Lompoc’s Cypress Art Gallery is getting into the spirit of fall with its latest art exhibition and competition this month.
This fall show will run until October 24, featuring various pieces from local Santa Barbara County artists. The show is also an open competition, with many local artists already submitting their pieces for cash prizes.
The competition will run until October 22 with the community acting as judges. Visitors to the Cypress Gallery can vote on their favorites for first, second and third place.
On Sunday, local vendors gathered for a fundraising event and market to raise funds for the Cypress Art Gallery. The gallery was hit hard by the pandemic, so much so that they had to cut their hours considerably. Benefit organizers say they want to keep the gallery afloat.
“It’s good to make sure that we are shining a light on this little gallery in the right direction,” said Jasmine Gonzalez, partner of Pot Mamas. “We want to rebuild it.”
The fall show reception and awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 24 from 1 p.m. at 3 p.m. The gallery says all artists and their guests are welcome to attend.
The Cypress Art Gallery was founded in 1994 by the Lompoc Valley Art Association. You will find more information about the gallery, the competition and the artistic association here.
