A native of Leeds, Balbinder holds a BA Hons in Fine Art and Printmaking from the Hull School of Art.

This was followed by an MA in Fine Arts, Painting from the University of East London. She is one of Yorkshire’s most interesting abstract painters and has been a regular exhibitor and winner of the Harrogate Open Exhibition.

Throughout the last year of containment, Balbinder has created new paintings, which are shown for the first time in this exhibition.

She chose to title the exhibition Distillation because this period saw a process of refinement and clarification of her visual language characteristic of distinctive shapes and brands.

She also returned to printmaking after a long hiatus, creating a stunning series of monochrome drypoint prints.

Distillation: A new work by Balbinder Broadbent is in progress at the Mercer Gallery, Swan Road, Harrogate is now in progress until March 20.

The opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
