PULASKI, NY – This is the last week for Oswego County students to submit artwork for the 26th annual Oswego County Student Art Show and Competition.

The deadline is Saturday, April 9, 2022. Entries are judged and cash prizes will be awarded for exemplary artwork based on visual impact, originality, overall design and craftsmanship.

Any student, grades 7 through 12, living in Oswego County, including public, private, and home-schooled students, can participate and all media are welcome.

The show which is organized by the Salmon River Fine Arts Center in Pulaski will be judged this year by Pat Tanner, former executive director of the center and Kelley Sheldon, Liverpool art teacher and former Oswego County student.

Accepted works will be exhibited in the gallery at the Salmon River Center for the Fine Arts from April 21 to May 21 as well as virtually online. There is a $5 entry fee for each submission and students can apply on their own or through their school district. See the prospectus and guidelines on the Salmon River Fine Arts Center website for more details. Because there are usually a lot of attendees, the opening reception will still be held via Facebook Live on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m.

“I am always thrilled to see the diverse and inspiring work our young people create.” says Billie Jo Peterson, co-chair of the exhibition, art teacher and member of the board of directors of the center of fine arts. “We hope to have great representation of the art among students across the county.”

This show would not have been possible without the generous support of this year’s main sponsor, Brent Deaton of Deaton’s Ace and Agway stores in Pulask. NBT Bank has also agreed to help support this community event. If you or your business are interested in participating in this community art program or other community art programs, please contact the Salmon River Fine Arts Center by calling 315-298-7007 or emailing [email protected]
