National Art Gallery welcomes public votes for Bakat Muda Sezaman 2021

The National Art Gallery’s Young Contemporaries Awards, or Bakat Muda Sezaman (BMS) 2021, invite the public to vote for their favorite installation works of art in two categories here: Choice of online visitors and Choice of on-site visitors.

“BMS21 participants created art during a rather difficult time. Not only were we in the middle of a pandemic, but (recent) heavy rains and flooding in several states across the country destroyed several art installations last month. However, most of this work had already been documented by the BMS team ”, according to the National Art Gallery.

This year’s competition embraces the concept of “Art On Site” or “Seni Di Lokasi”, which saw the participation of young creatives from across the country. There are a total of 81 finalists.

The public can explore the nearby facilities or opt to view the works online. On the site are included photos of the work in progress, sketches, plans and videos as well as the final presentation of the installation.

Closing of the votes on January 30.

The Young Contemporaries Awards – BMS are a contemporary art competition and exhibition open to all Malaysians aged 35 and under.

The top three winners in the Online Visitors ‘Choice and Onsite Visitors’ Choice categories will receive RM 2,500, RM 1,500 and RM 1,000, respectively. Besides these two categories, there are four Jury Prizes (15,000 RM each) and the Major Prize (30,000 RM) which will be announced at a later date.
