Porsche is a brand built on the principle of turning dreams into reality, with their alluring and awe-inspiring automobiles pushing the boundaries of engineering for over 70 years. Today, the German manufacturer applies the same spirit of embracing creativity to art and design, with a new project that features some of the world’s most innovative artists in a one-of-a-kind “Global Gallery” .
In partnership with KÃNIG GALERIE (known for representing and exhibiting a roster of cutting-edge international artists), Porsche is taking over some of the world’s most iconic digital advertising spaces to create an innovative gallery showcasing the work of new wave artists in select of the busiest areas of the world.
From October 9 and for eight weeks, five major cities in North America, Europe and Asia are transformed into Global Gallery and become the canvases of artists who push the limits of their creative disciplines: New York, Madrid, Berlin, Seoul and Tokyo.
While full-fledged cities are the birthplaces of some of the most important individuals and movements in cultural history, the specific places where art will be presented are all the more important. From Times Square in New York to the legendary Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, it will be a defining moment for these artists as their work will be seen by more people than ever before.
This breathtaking project will highlight 11 emerging artists: Andy Picci, Auiea Harvey, Banz & Bowinkel, Ben Elliot, John Yuyi, Jon Burgerman, Jonas Lund, kennedy + swan, Manuel Rossner, Junuwana and Nicole Ruggiero
This talented and eclectic group of artists from around the world was selected for the innovation they bring to their work. Digital art is one of the biggest trends in culture right now – with the boom in NFT allowing artists to sell their work to collectors, as has always been the case with ‘traditional’ art – and this project romantically combines new ideas with heritage, pairing the future -face digital art with iconic billboards that have housed some of the most famous commercials of all time.
By partnering with KÃNIG, Porsche is also working with a gallery that has always been known to democratize art. This spirit extends to this project as well, with all of the works on display available to the public for purchase as NFTs for eight weeks. Unlike most NFTs – which are super limited and exclusive – the NFT Global Gallery are unlimited and start at just ⬠100, a big step forward for accessibility in digital art collection.
The NFTs will be hosted on misa.art, which will serve as a KÃNIG x PORSCHE content hub throughout the Global Gallery project, providing additional background stories about the artists, their works and the project as a whole.
