SPENCERTOWN — The Academy Arts Center in Spencertown presents its 7th annual Member Art Exhibition featuring works by 80 members of the Academy community. The exhibition will be presented on weekends from July 9 to August 7. On July 10, the public is invited to a festive reception with the artists from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of July 9 when the gallery will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. as part of the Community Day celebration. Academy for its 50th anniversary as a cultural center and the 175th anniversary of its historic home. Admission is free and most works are for sale; a portion of the profits benefit the Academy.
“This exhibition is an appreciation of visual artists in our community and neighboring communities who are involved in the universal process of creation. This year, the largest number of members ever attended the event,” says Norma Cohen, who serves on the Spencertown Academy Retention Committee.
Founded in 1972, the Spencertown Academy Arts Center is a cultural center and community resource serving Columbia County, the Berkshires and the Capital Region.
